Your First Visit

When you arrive
Your first visit to the chiropractor will be informative, relaxing and comfortable. When you arrive, our friendly reception staff will put you at ease and help you start filling out our new patient form. Once you have completed the new patient form your chiropractor will call you in for your consultation.

Consultation
Your chiropractor will take a thorough medical history, including questions about accidents, illnesses and family medical history. All your details will be handled with the strictest confidence.

Examination
We will conduct thorough neurological, orthopaedic and physical examinations which will concentrate on the joints, nerves and muscles of your body. Sometimes it may also be necessary to examine other areas, such as lungs, heart and abdomen. Based on the findings the chiropractor will decide whether any additional investigations are necessary before treatment can begin. These may include X-rays. In some cases it may be necessary to contact your GP, which your chiropractor will do with your permission.

Management Plan
After the examination the chiropractor will explain everything to you in detail:

• What the cause of your symptoms are.
• What can be done about it.
• How long recovery might take.
• How much treatment is required and how much will it cost.

A management plan will then be tailored to suit your specific needs. In some cases dietary and lifestyle changes may be discussed and in most cases simple home exercises will be prescribed in order to maximize your recovery. You will also be advised on how to best avoid future problems.

Chiropractic is the art and science practiced by chiropractors. In many ways chiropractic is similar to physiotherapy and osteopathy as practiced by physiotherapists and osteopaths. Although there is much debate about the difference between Chiropractors and Osteopaths, in reality their approaches have much in common. Physiotherapists who manipulate are also similar to Chiropractors and Osteopaths.
